City Of Coral Gables To Replace Tree In Salvadore Park
A Sea Grape tree in the southwest corner identified as having structural issues will be removed and replaced with a Gumbo Limbo tree.
October 28, 2020
In preparation for the inclusive playground expansion at Salvadore Park, an assessment of the park’s existing trees was conducted. During this assessment a Sea Grape tree located in the Southwest corner was identified as having structural issues that could make it prone to failure. On a mission to replace the tree with a mature tree of similar canopy size that would provide equal amounts of shade to our park users, the Landscape Services team went on a tree hunt and found a 20 – 25 foot Gumbo Limbo tree. The removal of the existing tree and planting of the new Gumbo Limbo tree are scheduled for November. The aforementioned was discussed at a community meeting where the project received great feedback from the community resulting in a modified layout and moving of the large ZipKrooz track to allow for more open play space.
