Coast Guard Helicopter Returns To Base After Emergency Landing
The aircraft was able to make it back to base after an emergency landing on the beach in Key Biscayne.

KEY BISCAYNE, FL — A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter safely returned to its base after being forced to make an emergency landing on the beach in Key Biscayne Thursday, according to the agency. The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter is based at Air Station Miami. The emergency landing followed a bird strike around 10:30 a.m.
The Coast Guard said that the aircraft was on a routine flight when it was forced to land on the southern side of the affluent barrier island not far from downtown Miami and Coconut Grove.
Two pilots, a flight mechanic, and a rescue swimmer were all on board the aircraft at the time but no one was injured.

The aircraft is stationed in Opa Locka, Florida.
Coast Guard Officials said they were prepared to bring the helicopter back on a trailer if it had been unable to make the return flight.
