Coconut Grove Arts Festival Opens With 380 Artists

The event runs from Saturday through Monday and will affect traffic.

COCONUT GROVE — The Coconut Grove Arts Festival opened on Saturday with work from 380 artists.

Festival organizers said that this year's event features work from 71 new artists.

In addition, a local chef will be attempting to set a new record on Monday for the largest arroz con pollo.

The event runs from Saturday Monday and is located along S. Bayshore Drive and McFarlane Road between Aviation Avenue and Grand Avenue.

Miami police told Patch to expect the following road closures until 11:30 p.m. on Monday:

  • No vehicular traffic will be allowed on South Bayshore Drive, from Aviation Avenue to McFarlane Road and from McFarlane Road to Grand Avenue.
  • Heavy vehicular traffic is expected due to the closures, and the construction along SW 27th Avenue, from US1 to Tigertail Avenue.
  • Patrons attending the Coconut Grove Arts Festival can use SW 22nd Avenue or SW 32nd Avenue as alternates from South Dixie Highway.

Miami Dade Transit will also provide additional buses for route 249, the Coconut Grove Circulator. This route will shuttle attendees from the two Metro Rail Stations in the area, the Douglas Road Station, and the Coconut Grove Station.
