At last week’s Commission meeting, the City Commission voted to allow the City’s legal team to continue defending the City’s Polystyrene Ordinance and appeal the recent Third District Court of Appeal’s ruling.
The Commission also adopted a resolution urging the Florida Legislature to repeal Sections 403.708, 403.7033 and 500.90 of the Florida Statutes, reject any other Statutes that inhibit a local government’s ability to regulate expanded polystyrene or single-use plastic bags, and requested the Governor’s assistance in this effort.

During the pendency of the appeal, the Commission urges businesses in the City to continue protecting the environment by not resuming the use of products made from expanded polystyrene or of single use plastic bags.
