Man Charged In Coconut Grove Murder
Michael Fernandez was charged with murder and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit in the shooting death of Paulo Sanchez.

MIAMI, FL — A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connected with a Wednesday night slaying in Coconut Grove. Michael Fernandez was charged with second-degree murder and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit in the shooting death of 36-year-old Paulo Sanchez, who was shot once in the chest and once in the back. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of SW 27 Lane.
Miami police did not immediately say what caused Fernandez to open fire.
"According to detectives, when officers arrived they found an adult white male who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds," explained Officer Kenia Fallat of the Miami Police Department.

Sanchez was pronounced dead on the scene by Miami Fire Rescue personnel.
Court documents said that officers found Fernandez at the scene of the shooting and brought him to police headquarters for questioning.

"The defendant stated that he took a Glock 43 9mm handgun out of his right front shorts' pocket and shot at the victim three times from approximately 10 feet away," court documents explained. "When the victim fled the property, the defendant went out to the front of the property and fired once more at the victim as he fled."
