Book Shop Moves to Downtown Dunedin

Boe Rushing is moving his business, Back in the Day Books, to Main Street. He hopes to open June 1.

Boe Rushing is moving, and he's bringing his books with him.

Apparently, his new downtown Dunedin location, next to Kina Kouture and Stirling Tropical Wines, isn't far from other book lovers.

Rushing, a lawyer-turned-bookstore-owner in Tarpon Springs, is moving his business, Back in the Day Books, to 457 Main St., just a short walk from Dunedin Library's "give-one-take-one" book drop box on Pinellas Trail

A sign in his new downtown storefront tells curious book lovers "we hope to be open June 1." Inside, book shelves are loaded with an eclectic array of collectibles, leather bounds and first editions.

Although Rushing and Back in the Day Books are new to Dunedin, they aren't new to the county.

Rushing, a Clearwater native, spent time in Canada before switching career paths and diving into his passion for books. He first opened in the historic downtown district of Tarpon Springs in 2010 and quickly became a fixture on Tarpon Avenue.

On Saturday, in what was once a pet grooming shop, Rushing hopes to sell his books in Dunedin for the first time.
