Krulder said he's still assessing the island from Thursday's storm, but so far damages appear relatively minimal.
The island took a bruising from high surf and strong currents June 6 as Tropical Storm Andrew blew its way through the Gulf of Mexico. The park remained open through the storm, but conditions were serious enough to warrant a double, red flag warning at the park entrance, signaling "high hazard" and "no swimming."
