Police Say 19-Year-Old Followed Women Home, Fatally Stabbed Them

Largo police said Sage Gayle Curry climbed through a bedroom window and began stabbing one woman while she slept.

LARGO, FL — The 19-year-old man accused of killing two Largo women in the early-morning hours Monday told police that he targeted the women after seeing them out in public.

According to Largo police, Sage Gayle Curry of the 1300 block of South Belcher Road said he followed the women to their home in the 1000 block of 8th Avenue Northwest and began attacking them with a knife while they were sleeping.

Largo police received a 911 call at 1:53 a.m., and arrived at the home to find both women dead. Police haven't released the identities of the women.

Curry told police he entered the home through a bedroom window and began stabbing one of the women while she was sleeping. The second woman heard the attack and came to her roommate's defense, injuring Curry in the process.

Curry then stabbed the second woman to death while she was attempting to save the first woman.

After fatally stabbing the two women, Curry said he left the home and went to a neighbor to request help for his injuries.

Police believe the attack was random. Curry did not know the women before he attacked them.

Curry was taken into custody shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday and is being held in the Pinellas County Jail where he's been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and armed burglary.
