Greater Ridgecrest YMCA Hosts 2 Free Community Events Oct. 6

On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA is holding two free community events.

LARGO, FL -- On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA is holding two free community events.

The first is the second annual Family Field Day for foster children and their families.

Also taking place is the Gather for a Cure, a day of fellowship and support for breast cancer survivors.

The Family Field Day celebration is a day for foster care children and their families. At the YMCA of the Suncoast all foster children through age 21 have free access to any Y from Largo to Lecanto.

This event will have games, swimming and other activities. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food will be provided by Subway. To learn more, call George Garcia at 727 461-9622 or visit the website.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA in Largo is opening this event to the entire community. Starting at 9 a.m. from the Y, participants can take a walk in Taylor Park, run or ride a bike. There will be community partners on hand to talk about some of the frequently asked questions about breast cancer.
