Largo Fire Rescue, Red Cross Team Up To Install Smoke Alarms

Largo Fire Rescue and the city of Largo teamed up with the American Red Cross Saturday to install free smoke alarms in the homes of seniors.

LARGO, FL — Largo Fire Rescue and the city of Largo teamed up with the American Red Cross Saturday to install free smoke alarms in the homes of senior citizens.

Starting at age 65, people are twice as likely to be killed or injured by fires.

Largo Fire Rescue hopes to reduce this risk with education and working smoke alarms for older adults. The smoke alarms were installed in homes at East Bay Oaks and El Dorado Village manufactured home communities and residents received advice on creating a home escape plan.
