Largo Man Accused Of Repeatedly Sexually Assaulting Pasco Girl
Detectives arrested a 36-year-old Largo man after he was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a Pasco County girl.
LARGO, FL — Pinellas County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested a 36-year-old Largo man after he was accused of repeatedly getting into bed with a Pasco County girl and sexually battering her.
On Monday, Matthew Van Alstine was charged with capital sexual battery of a child under 12 and taken to the Land O' Lakes Detention Center.
Pinellas County detectives learned of the accusation on Jan. 1 after the victim told a friend. The victim's friend told her parents who called the sheriff's office and reported the allegations.

The sheriff's crime against children unit and child protection investigators met with the child who told them that, between February and November, Van Alstine repeatedly got into bed with her at night and sexually battered her at her home in Pasco County.
She said he threatened to hurt her family members if she told anyone about the abuse.

During their investigation, detectives found probable cause to arrest Val Alstine. They took him into custody at Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, 6600 Madison St., Port Richey.
During an interview with detectives, Val Alstine denied the allegations.
