Local Hero: Sheriff's Employees Makes More Than 800 Face Masks

"I did this because I care about my coworkers, and I wanted to help everyone stay safe," said Deputy Sherie Nichols.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — In her spare time, Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputy Sherie Nichols sews face masks for co-workers, family and friends, first responders and health care workers in her community.

So far, she has made more than 800 masks.

"I did this because I care about my coworkers, and I wanted to help everyone stay safe. If my masks help prevent someone from getting COVID-19, I'll keep making them," said Nichols.
