Mailbox Crash Uncovers Urination in Pants

A habitual DUI offender is charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor following a traffic stop earlier this month in Largo.

Jeffrey Lannon Porter, a habitual offender who has been arrested and charged multiple times for DUI and driving on a suspended or revoked license, was arrested again earlier this month following a traffic stop in Largo.

A Largo Police officer stopped Porter after witnessing his red Jeep crash into a mailbox and then leave the scene on May 7, according to an arrest report.

Porter was pulled over outside of 201 36th St. SE, where the officer reported that Porter admitted to possibly striking the mailbox and showed signs of impairment.

Those signs included slurred speech, an odor of alcohol on his breath, bloodshot eyes and urination in his pants, according to the report.

Porter, 55, then admitted to drinking alcohol, according to the officer. The officer also noticed damage to the Jeep consistent with hitting the mailbox.

Porter, who lives in the 500 block of 36th St. SE, refused to answer any further questions and refused field sobriety tests, the report said.

Further investigation uncovered Porter's criminal history, which includes multiple DUI and driving on a suspended or revoked license charges; he was labeled as a habitual offender on August 12, 2005.

The prior convictions led to Porter being arrested and charged with felony DUI and felony driving on a suspended or revoked license. He was also given a misdemeanor citation for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
