Opossum-Chasing Dog Finds Himself Up a Tree

LARGO, FL — Firefighters rescuing cats from trees has become a cliched scenario. But it's not often that firefighters are called to rescue a dog from a tree.

That's just what happened this week to Mio, a 6-year-old rescue pocket beagle. Mio's favorite pastime is chasing opossums that dare to enter his yard. This time, Mio chased one all the way up a tree, and then couldn't get back down.

Mio's owners called Largo Fire Rescue, and the team with Truck 41 came to Mio's rescue although it was actually firefighter Matt Smith who got Mio out of the tree.
