Restaurant Owner Accused Of Assaulting Customer Over Bad Review
The owner of an Oldsmar barbecue restaurant was arrested this week after police said he attacked a customer who wrote a negative review.

OLDSMAR, FL — The owner of an Oldsmar barbecue restaurant was arrested this week after police said he attacked a customer who wrote a negative review of his restaurant.
Daniel Ahrens, 60, owner of Georgia Boy’s Bar-B-Que, 205 St. Petersburg Drive E., Oldsmar, was charged with simple battery.
The victim told police that he received several threatening calls and texts from Ahrens after he posted his restaurant review on Yelp.

Police said the victim went to Ahrens’ home in Largo Tuesday to discuss the threatening texts with Ahrens' mother, who he knew. When she opened the door, he said Ahrens shoved her out of the way and began chasing the victim until the victim tripped and fell on the ground.
Police said Ahrens “jumped on top of him and struck him several times while the victim covered his face with his arms.”

The victim sustained a large scrape on his knee from the fall.
Ahrens was released Wednesday after posting $500 bond.
