Body Found In Retention Pond Shows No Signs Of Gator Attack

ORLANDO, FL - The body that authorities found in a large retention pond is a young woman or teenage girl and does not have any wounds from a gator attack, according to the Orange County sheriff's office. Authorities had been searching for a teenage boy who a witness said was flailing and screaming, "It bit me! It bit me!"
The body was found about 6:30 a.m. Authorities have been searching the pond off Regan Avenue, near Goldenrod Road and Colonial Drive since receiving a call about noon Wednesday from a man who said he saw a teenage boy in the water and screaming, “It bit me!”
The body was found about 50 yards from the shore, authorities said. Homicide investigators are on scene. Authorities said there were no signs of any marks from an alligator or other wildlife.

PIO: We are working to ID the female found deceased floating in an east Orange County retention pond. No trauma to the body. No missing persons reports. We do not know how the female got into fenced retention pond. It is possible the victim was homeless.Investigation continues.
