Domu holds successful grand opening in Dr. Phillips

The popular Japanese ramen restaurant concept is expanding across the state.

One of Orlando's quickly growing restaurant concepts, Domu, held their grand opening last night in Dr. Phillips. Domu began in November 2016 in Audubon Park District with Chef and Owner Sean "Sonny" Nguyen at the head.

Domu offered complimentary drinks to celebrate the occasion as well as happy hour all night long and discounts for diners. Dozens of diners lined up before the grand opening and the restaurant enjoyed a busy opening night after a successful soft opening period.

Domu is a slang term for "a dream come true" and Chef Sonny Nguyen prides himself on being different than the other ramen shops that have been opening up all over Florida with a focus on Japanese techniques.

Some of the signature dishes on the menu include Richie Rich miso ramen, Black Tonkotsu ramen, and their Domu Wings cooked in kimchi butter sauce. Craft cocktails are also an important part of the Domu concept with Japanese whiskeys being major stars on the menu.

Domu has been featured in the past on Travel Channel's "The Zimmern List" as well as Food Paradise. Orlando Weekly named Domu "best ramen" and Chef Sonny Nguyen "best local chef" in 2018. It has also been shown on Food Network Brazil.
