George Zimmerman Charged With Threatening To Feed PI To Alligator

"I know how to handle people who f--- with me. I have since February 2012," Zimmerman is accused of texting the private investigator.

SEMINOLE, FL — George Zimmerman, the man cleared of murder in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, has been accused of threatening to feed a private investigator to an alligator. Investigator Dennis Warren received numerous calls, text messages, voicemails and emails containing threats from Zimmerman over the course of a week and half in December, court documents showed.

Zimmerman is now scheduled to be arraigned on a misdemeanor stalking charge on May 30.

At one point, Zimmerman texted Warren a link to an article that quoted Zimmerman as saying, "I know how to handle people who f--- with me. I have since February 2012," media outlets reported, citing an affidavit from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

The statement is an apparent reference to the February 2012 shooting death of Martin. Zimmerman was a neighborhood watchman in Sanford when he shot Martin to death as the teen was returning from a convenience store. Martin was staying with his dad at the time, who lived in the community.

Zimmerman claimed he shot Martin in self-defense. The shooting led to nationwide protests and rallies in support of Martin.

A production company working with Jay-Z hired Warren to contact people for a TV documentary series titled "Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story," NBC News reported.

The investigator sent Zimmerman a text message and left him a voicemail. Zimmerman then called a producer of the show, who later told Warren that Zimmerman was threatening the investigator.

"Dennis is a [expletive] who bothered my uncle in his home….local or former law enforcement officer he's well on his way to the inside of a gator as well," the text allegedly said. "10-4?"

In another text, Zimmerman is accused of vowing to find Warren.

"Help Mrs. Warren out and give him a heads up, I'm going to find him. And I'm bringing hell with me," CBS News reported.

Warren then began receiving messages and calls, too, court documents allege. Furthermore, Zimmerman is accused of screaming at a female Seminole sergeant and using a slur to refer to her.

Zimmerman has had domestic violence and aggravated assault charges brought against him. They were dropped in 2013 and another case with the same charges was dropped in 2015.
