Hurricane Irma Aftermath: Latest Orlando-Area Cellphone Outages

ORLANDO, FL — More and more Floridian pockets, purses and pocketbooks are starting to chirp, chime and buzz as cell sites get back up and running.

The Federal Communications Commission on Friday updated its breakdown of cellphone outages by county in a status report on communications services.

Overall, the FCC said 8.5 percent of cell sites in Florida were out of service Friday, down from 13.4 percent Thursday and 18.1 percent a day earlier. Georgia and Alabama were completely restored Friday. Below is the breakdown for the Orlando area and surrounding counties:

Orange County

  • 49 cell sites were out, or 4.3 percent (down from 7.7 percent).

Osceola County

  • 23 cell sites were out, or 9.7 percent (down from 12.2 percent).

Lake County

  • 16 cell sites were out, or 7.3 percent (down from 14.7 percent).

Seminole County

  • 16 cell sites were out, or 5.1 percent (down from 8.6 percent).

Brevard County

  • 22 cell sites were out, or 7 percent (down from 14.2 percent).

Polk County

  • 37 cell sites were out, or 7.7 percent (down from 17.5 percent)
