Hurricane Irma: Indian River Drive Washed Out

A portion of the road at the intersection of Sunset Terrace has collapsed because of Hurricane Irma.

COCOA, FL – Brevard County Emergency Management is warning residents and visitors to stay off the roads with conditions deteriorating from Hurricane Irma.

Emergency Management shared a photo on its Facebook page, provided by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, that shows a large portion of road collapsed on Indian River Drive at Sunset Terrace in Cocoa. The washed out road is near the intersection of U.S. 1 and State Road 528.

Emergency Management personnel are “highly recommending” that residents do not drive on roads due to the current weather conditions with Hurricane Irma. Issues motorists may find include downed power lines, debris and road erosion like Indian River Drive.
