Hurricane Irma: Orlando Yard Waste Pickup Underway
BREAKING: Orlando is collecting yard waste. Residents should separate yard debris — such as tree limbs — from building materials.

ORLANDO, FL — Orlando has resumed trash collection, and the city wants residents to separate tree limbs from any building materials at the curb.
Yard waste pick up began Tuesday throughout Orlando, officials said in a release. Residents are asked to bag or bundle as much of the debris as possible. Duct tape and twine "work well" for bundling waste, the city said.
"It is important that residents separate vegetative debris like tree limbs, yard waste, etc. from any building materials like fencing, construction materials, etc. when placing material at the curb," the city said.

Contractors with the Federal Emergency Management Agency cannot pick up mixed piles in one trip, the city said, and mixing vegetative and construction debris can result in delays. Residents are asked to place all debris at the curb — not on the street. "Items placed in the street can block access for solid waste trucks and can clog storm drains," the city said.
