Missing Girl Found With Man She Met Posing As Teen Online: Report

The 24-year-old man reportedly posed as a teenager on the PlayStation network, according to news reports.

ORLANDO, FL — An 11-year-old girl who was reported missing out of Orlando on Sunday was found in Bibb County, Georgia and authorities believe she met the man she was found with while playing video games online.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office said the 11-year-old girl was found Sunday afternoon at a hotel room with a 24-year-old man. The girl was found safe and the man, who authorities identified as John Peter Byrns of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, was taken into custody.

Byrns was reportedly posing as a teenager on the PlayStation network, Click On Orlando reported, citing the Orange County Sheriff's office. Byrns met the girl while playing Minecraft and their conversations then moved to other social media apps, according to Click On Orlando.

Byrns drove from Illinois to Orlando on Saturday and the girl was reported missing Sunday morning, according to the news report. She was found in Georgia later that evening.

Byrns is charged with kidnapping a victim under 13. Click On Orlando reports he could face more charges as the investigation is ongoing.

The Orange County Sheriff's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
