Orange County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Orange County is August 14. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Orange County Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

August

• 8/7 - 8/11: Pre Planning for Teachers (8/9 is a Professional Development Day)
• 8/14: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/13: End of First Marking Period
• 10/16: No School for Students (Teacher Workday)
• 10/17: Beginning of Second Marking Period
• 10/27: No School for Students (Teacher Professional Day)

November

• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/21: End of Second Marking Period
• 12/22: No School for Students (Teacher Workday)
• 12/25 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/8: Students Return to School, Beginning of Second Semester, Beginning of Third Marking Period
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday)

February

• 2/19: No School (Presidents Day holiday)

March

• 3/15: End of Third Marking Period
• 3/16: No School for Students (Teacher Workday)
• 3/19 - 3/23: No School (Spring Break)
• 3/26: Beginning of Fourth Marking Period

May

• 3/28: No School (Memorial Day)
• 3/30: Last Day of School
• 3/31 - 1/1: Post Planning for Teachers
