Orlando Airport: Panic As Man Tries To Enter Checkpoint

The airport said screening was in the process of being resumed.

ORLANDO, FL — Panic ensued at Orlando Airport when a man attempting to enter the west checkpoint of the airport was being arrested and people yelled that he had a gun, according to police.

Police said reports of an active shooter or a subject with a gun are false.

The man reached into his pocket as police were attempting to arrest him when someone yelled he had a gun. Police said it caused panic in the screening area.

The man was arrested, police said.

The incident paused security screening at the airport. The checkpoint is fully operations but delays continue, police said.

The airport said the incident was at the checkpoint for gates 1-59.

Airport officials said via Twitter that no shots were fired during the incident.

A witness at the scene described there being a stampede at the airport with people running in all directions.

This is the second incident at Orlando Airport in February. On Feb.2, a TSA agent jumped to his death from a hotel balcony at the airport.
