Orlando: Hurricane Irma Might've Tainted Water, So No Fishing Or Boating

The city said there's a high potential for water contamination, sewer overflows, active wildlife and more.

ORLANDO, FL — As if cellphone and power outages weren't enough, Orlando officials say there's a good chance Hurricane Irma contaminated the area's waterways.

The city reminded residents on its website that a lake advisory remains in effect for all lakes due to a high potential for water contamination, sewer overflows, active wildlife and other safety concerns

"Take extreme caution around all waterways during this time," the city said.

The city advised that residents refrain from "water contact activities" until further notice, including boating, swimming and fishing.
