On Monday, Jan. 25, Valencia College’s Peace and Justice Institute will launch its annual Conversation on Justice, a weeklong series of workshops, for the first time in a completely virtual environment. The series, which is designed to give participants a deeper understanding of today’s hot-button social issues, will explore racial wealth gaps, human trafficking, immigration and civil rights. Each day will also allow time for meditation in the morning, prior to the start of the first event. The Conversation on Justice runs daily from 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25 until Thursday, Jan. 28.

Held in an online capacity this year, the series of events will begin with a meditation session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning, followed by “A Conversation on Bullying.” In the days following, the college will host more than 20 digital events online.

Some of this year’s seminars include: “Beyond Negative Stigmas: Understanding Mental Health”; “Gender Misrepresentation in Advertising”; “Clean Water and Energy Workshop”; “Immigration and DACA”; and many more. Film screenings will also take place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening, and will begin at 6 p.m. Closing out the week is a special interactive experience titled “The ABCs of Anti-Racism,” and will explore the difference between being a “non-racist” and an “anti-racist.”
