Escambia County's mobile command center will stay at the Surfside condo collapse through July 30.

Escambia County’s mobile command center will stay at the Surfside condo collapse through July 30. The state requested use of the vehicle as a command post for search and recovery efforts. The command center, nicknamed “THOR” was set to return from Surfside today Wednesday, July 7, but it will now remain through the end of the month. The emergency management employee returned from his deployment and will return to South Florida to retrieve THOR.

"It takes a strong partnership during tragic events such as the Surfside condo collapse," said Interim Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore. "We are glad this resource is a valuable asset for the state and other counties."
