Escambia County School Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has announced that all schools and district offices will be closed on Thursday, October 29, 2020, in an abundance of caution due to the threat posed by Hurricane Zeta. This closure provides time for assessment of power outages, roadway accessibility, and district facility damages.

Superintendent Malcolm Thomas states “All Escambia County (FL) public schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, 2020. District damage assessments cannot be conducted until daylight. Completion of damage assessments are necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff. Normal operations are expected to resume on Friday, October 30, 2020.”
Superintendent Thomas stated “Once damage assessments have been completed, additional communications will be made through local media, through School Messenger calls, and on school district website.”
