Florida Drug Dealer Reported Stolen Cocaine: Cops
A self-described "drug dealer" found himself behind bars after allegedly calling deputies to report that someone stole his cocaine.
FORT WALTON BEACH, FL — A Florida man’s Sunday plea for help from deputies in Okaloosa County didn’t fall on deaf ears exactly, but its outcome probably wasn't quite what he expected. That’s because officials say the Fort Walton Beach man described himself as a “drug dealer” and was asking for help in recovering cocaine that had been stolen from him.
The unusual incident occurred in the morning hours of July 16 when Okaloosa deputies received a call from David Blackmon, 32. Blackmon reportedly told dispatchers he was a drug dealer, the sheriff's office wrote on its Facebook page. He then proceeded to tell the deputy that responded to the scene of the crime that someone entered his parked car and swiped $50 in cash and “about a quarter ounce of cocaine off the center console,” the sheriff’s office reported.

While inspecting the crime scene, the deputy couldn't help but notice a few things out of place, the agency reported. First, he discovered cocaine in the very spot Blackmon said it had been stolen from. “He also found a crack pipe on the floorboard by the driver’s door and seat and a crack rock on the center console by the cocaine,” the sheriff’s office reported.
The money, however, was nowhere to be found.

Not surprisingly, Blackmon’s call for help ended with his arrest on possession of cocaine, resisting arrest without violence and possession of drug paraphernalia charges, the sheriff’s office said.

Blackmon isn’t the only Florida man to find himself facing charges after making unusual requests of law enforcement. Clearwater Police announced the arrest of 24-year-old Michael Mott last week. Police say Mott called the agency’s non-emergency line 98 times in a single day, using two different phones, in an attempt to get cash returned to him. The cash was seized during a January drug bust, police said.
“He even made a couple of calls in front of an officer,” the agency reported on Facebook. As for the charge, the police department explained that Mott’s alleged decision to repeatedly ask for his cash back “tied up valuable resources and telephone lines that are meant to help Clearwater citizens in need.”
Police did not say how much money Mott was attempting to recover.
