48-year-old Sarasota Woman Found Dead at Cabbage Key Inn

A 48-year-old Sarasota woman was pronounced dead at Cabbage Key Inn early Saturday morning, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

LCSO deputies around were called to the Cabbage Key Inn on Cabbage Key around 3 a.m. to investigate a sudden death.

When deputies arrived they found Carrie Burrows, of Sarasota, dead from unknown causes. Her husband, Thomas Burrows, reported the death and told deputies he administered CPR prior to the paramedics’ arrival.

Thomas reportedly told them that Carrie was not feeling well after they checked in at the Inn at approximately 2 p.m. At approximately 2:45 a.m. that night Thomas said he realized his wife was not breathing right, and notified 911.

The 911 operators gave Thomas instructions on the phone until Useppa Fire arrived on scene. Carrie Burrows was pronounced dead on scene at 4:36 a.m. and she was taken to the Lee County Medical Examiner’s office. Authorities are still investigating her cause of death.
