Each year the Sarasota County School District conducts a Parent Climate Survey to ask parents and guardians how well their schools are performing in such areas as communication, curriculum, management, safety, academics, maintenance and parent involvement. Information from the survey helps the district measure customer satisfaction with school services and identifies areas that could be improved.
Most respondents take the survey online on their home computer. The link to the online survey will be posted on the Sarasota County School District website at www.SarasotaCountySchools.net from Feb. 25-March 6. Respondents may take the survey by clicking on the “Parent Climate Survey” button on the left side of the home page.
Parents who do not have Internet access may take the survey online at any Sarasota County school or any Sarasota County Library. Parents also may call the district Communications Department at 941-927-4009 to ask for a copy of the survey to be mailed to them.

The district will send parents and guardians a telephone message on Sunday evening (Feb. 24) inviting them to respond to the survey. District officials strongly encourage all families with children in the district to take the survey. The more people who respond to the survey, the more helpful the results will be in guiding decisions.
The parent survey has been translated in to the five languages other than English that are most often spoken in students’ homes: Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese and Haitian Creole.

Responses are confidential. The district uses summary data and information from the survey to document successes or identify problems, but it does not identify individual respondents.
More information about the Parent Climate Survey is available on the Parents Page of the district website under the Frequently Asked Questions link. Anyone who would like more information about the survey also may call the district Communications Department.
The district plans to administer similar climate surveys for students and staff at schools and district work sites during the same time period that the parent survey is in progress.
