Bicyclist Critically Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash: FHP
A bicyclist was hit by a car on Cattlemen Road near Brown Lane in Sarasota Sunday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.
SARASOTA, FL — A 48-year-old bicyclist was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash on Cattlemen Road Sunday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
Just before 11 a.m., the driver of a red Hyundai was traveling northbound in the right lane of Cattlemen Road south of Brown Lane at the same time the bicyclist was traveling in the same direction on the roadway in the bicycle lane.
The driver lost control of the Hyundai and veered off the road, hitting the curb, FHP said. When the driver overcorrected to the left, they entered the bicycle lane, hitting the bicyclist from behind.

The car was found abandoned two miles from the scene of the crash, FHP said.
The name of the bicyclist, a Bradenton man, hasn’t been released.
