Campfire Stories Event Makes Reading "S'more Fun"

Free family event will be held May 1 in Sarasota

Sarasota, FL— If Girl Scouts know a lot about one thing, it’s campfires. And s’mores! Their upcoming free event incorporates these two themes into a celebration of reading and philanthropy.

Campfire Stories will take place Tuesday, May 1 from 4-7 p.m. at the Gulfcoast Event and Conference Center, 4740 Cattlemen Road in Sarasota. The family friendly-event will feature children’s book readings, craft activities, games, refreshments, and more.

While admission is free, attendees are encouraged to bring a children’s book to donate to the council’s book drive. The goal is to collect new and gently used books appropriate for various ages, from pre-k to young adult, to be donated to the Sarasota County Library System and their program partners. Books may also be dropped off in advance at Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida’s council headquarters, 4780 Cattlemen Road in Sarasota, between 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays.
