Creativity Weekend Set for March

The University of South Florida, the Florida Creativity Coalition and Florida Studio Theatre, have partnered to bring nationally known creativity experts to Sarasota.

The 10th Annual Florida Creativity Weekend is set for March 1 through 3 with a brain training workshop in Sarasota.

The University of South Florida, the Florida Creativity Coalition and Florida Studio Theatre, have partnered to bring nationally known creativity experts to Sarasota and to promote the city as a brain training center for imagination and innovation.

The conference is designed help enhance creative thinking and to share problem solving tools with people in educational training, business, the arts (musicians, dancers, writers, actors, artists), and those who want to better develop their personal level of creativity.

More than 60 different workshops are scheduled. Sessions range from instruction in fundamental creativity techniques to whimsical meetings that are designed to be thought provoking and just plain fun. Topics include “A Basic Introduction to Creativity”, “The Creative Couch Disney Style”, “Teaching Children How to Think”, “Differentiating Products and Services from Competition”, “DeBono’s Deliberate Creativity” and a look into the “World of Theatre.”

Workshops will be held on the campus of the University of South Florida Sarasota/Manatee on March 1 and 2, and at Florida Studio Theatre’s Gompertz theatre in downtown Sarasota on March 3.

Both national and local organizations are providing speaker and logistical support. Conference sponsors include the GWIZ science museum, Disney Destinations, Manasota SCORE, the HuB innovation center and Mote Marine.

All sessions are open to the public, business people, artists, and educators for a fee. A limited number of student and instructor scholarships are available.
