Young writers have until Jan. 15 to submit to Ringling College's sixth annual "Storytellers of Tomorrow" creative writing contest.
SARASOTA, FL — High school-age creative writers have until Jan. 15 to submit their work to the sixth annual “Storytellers of Tomorrow” contest.
Presented by the Ringling College of Art and Design creative writing program, the contest “was created to support, empower and honor young writers,” according to the college’s website.
“It’s an exciting time to be a writer thanks to the increasing number of narrative possibilities that new technologies and media offer,” according to the contest description. “We believe that well-told stories can speak truths and communicate ideas in a way that nothing else can.”

Students are invited to submit unpublished, original English-language stories of up to 2,000 to the contest. There are three categories to submit in: literary stories, genre stories and nonfiction stories.
“The criteria for earning prizes in this contest is simply overall quality, meaning that well-edited, engaging and evocative stories have the best chance of winning over the judges,” according to the college.
