Early Dismissal Planned For Sarasota Schools Wednesday
Sarasota County Schools will close two hours early due to Hurricane Eta.
SARASOTA, FL — With Eta strengthening into a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico Wednesday morning, Sarasota County Schools announced that it will close two hours early on Wednesday. The storm is moving toward Florida’s west coast and there’s a tropical storm warning in place for Sarasota County and neighboring areas.
“Due to the change in Eta’s track overnight, we will be moving forward with a 2-hour early dismissal today for all traditional public schools,” the school district tweeted. “All after-school activities, including aftercare, are canceled.”
The district will monitor the storm throughout the day to determine whether schools will be closed on Thursday.
