Everyone Age 16+ Can Register For The Vaccine In Sarasota County

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — With the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine approved by the Food and Drug Administration for ages 16 and 17, and available to this age group in Florida starting Monday, these teens can now pre-register for the vaccine in Sarasota County.

Since the start of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Florida, though, the county hasn’t received any Pfizer doses, the county said in a news release.

While 16- and 17-year-olds may pre-register for Pfizer’s two-shot series in Sarasota County, they won’t be assigned an account number unless the county can coordinate a Pfizer vaccine clinic with the state, the county said.

Sarasota County continues to receive shipments of the Moderna vaccine from the state. Following executive orders from Gov. Ron DeSantis – as well as guidelines from the FDA and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – the Department of Health in Sarasota County will offer this brand to all adults 18 and older starting Monday, the county said.

Anyone 16 and older can pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine through Sarasota County's updated Everbridge registration system online here. People can also register by calling 941-861-VAXS (8297).
