Florida's Best 25 School Districts 2021: New Rankings Released

FLORIDA — Data compiler Niche has ranked Florida's best school districts for the 2020-2021 school year.

Each Florida school district received a letter grade in the following categories: Academics; Diversity; Teachers; College Prep; Clubs & Activities; Health & Safety; Administration; Sports; Food; and Resources & Facilities.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

The top-ranked school district in Florida is St. Johns County School District in St. Augustine. Niche gave the school system four A grades, and Bs in teachers, administration, food, diversity, health and safety, and resources and facilities.

Here are Florida's top 25 school districts, according to Niche.com:

2. Sarasota County Schools
3. Okaloosa County School District
4. Seminole County Public Schools
5. Martin County School District
6. Collier County Public Schools
7. Clay County School District
8. Lafayette School District
9. Indian River County School District
10. Santa Rosa County School District
11. Leon County Schools
12. Alachua County Public Schools
13. Nassau County School District
14. Monroe County School District
15. Charlotte County Public Schools
16. Brevard Public Schools
17. Pinellas County Schools
18. Sumter School District
19. Palm Beach County School District
20. Calhoun County School District
21. Miami-Dade County Public Schools
22. Walton County School District
23. Flagler County Public Schools
24. Hillsborough County Public Schools
25. Orange County Public Schools

Niche looked at more than 94,000 public schools, 4,100 private schools and nearly 11,000 school districts across the country. The rankings are meant to help parents and students find schools that best fit their needs.

"Unlike traditional school rankings, which rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance, Niche's rankings provide a real-life view of what it's like to attend a given school," the company said in a news release.
