Get Golf Ready: The Golf Academy at University Park County Club offers October skill specific clinics

Weekly series of golf clinics for women and men help players get ready for prime game season

With Florida’s prime golf season nearing, University Park Country Club is helping local golfers get game ready with a weekly series of golf clinics in October.

Coaches include former European and LPGA tour players

Participants also benefit from having two former European and LPGA tour players share their skill, knowledge and acumen. These include Assistant Golf Pro Clinton Whitelaw, a former South African Open Champion and European Tour Winner, who has also coached many of the world’s elite professional and amateur golfers, including Anders Hansen, Trevor Dodds, Carl Yuan and Aden Ze, to name a few. Joining Whitelaw is Sue Ertl, Head Teaching Professional at University Park Country Club and former LPGA tour player, who holds a career low score of 64, including 10 holes-in-one. Ertl currently plays on the LPGA Legends tour and has been inducted into the Women’s Collegiate Golf Hall of Fame as well as Sate of Michigan’s Golf Hall of Fame.

Clinic sessions are open to members and non-members and take place as follows:

Men’s Tuesday Clinics

Time: 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Cost: $25/per person, per clinic

October 11 – Chipping -- drills & techniques

October 18 – Back to Basics - swing check up

October 25 – Putting – the best trips and drills to sink more putts

Ladies Wednesday Clinics

Time: 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Cost: $25/per person, per clinic

October 12 – Chipping -- drills & techniques

October 19 – Back to Basics - swing check up

October 26 – Putting – the best trips and drills to sink more putts
