Girl Scouts Host Annual Things a Girl Can DO! Festival

Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida is kicking off its new membership year with the annual Things a Girl Can DO! festival on Sunday, Sept. 16.

BRADENTON, FL – Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida is kicking off its new membership year with the annual Things a Girl Can DO! festival on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The festival, to be held on the grounds of Camp Honi Hanta in Bradenton, will offer a taste of Girl Scout programming, with archery demonstrations, a camping display, a s’mores tasting station and hands-on games and activities provided by local nonprofits and businesses. Participants include Southeastern Guide Dogs, Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources, Music Compound Sarasota, Keep Manatee Beautiful, Mimi’s Rescue and Jim the Engineer/Parrish Train Station. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

The event is open to girls in grades kindergarten through 12 and their families who are interested in learning more about Girl Scouting. Admission is $4 for girls and siblings ages 4 and up. Preregistration is required and may be completed at the Girl Scouts website under the "events" tab. The first 300 girls to preregister and attend will receive a free Girl Scout patch.

Camp Honi Hanta is located at 4825 51st St. E. in Bradenton.
