Global Running Day - Fleet Feet Sarasota hosts The Big Run, June 7

Special $5 discount with advance registration; Festivities include 5k-course, post-run/walk party including food, beer & live music

As part of Global Running Day, Fleet Feet Sports Sarasota is hosting The Big Run, one of more than 70 Fleet Feet stores across the U.S. that are joining forces to offer local runners (and walkers) the opportunity to come together to celebrate the joys, challenges and benefits of running and being physically active.

In addition to a marked and safety supported 5K scenic course from Fleet Feet Sarasota’s Osprey Ave. store down to the Bayfront and back, the store is also partnering with local restaurants and businesses for a post-run/walk party that includes live entertainment from Spark Notes.

“We have specifically designed our local Big Run event to accommodate both competitive and recreational runners, as well as walkers,” said Molly Jackson, co-owner of Fleet Feet Sports Sarasota. “Our hope is that the Sarasota community will come out and celebrate this worldwide running day, have some fun and join millions of other runners in lacing up their shoes and getting outside for some exercise.”

How the national Big Run Day national competition works

Fleet Feet will compile results and post times from certified USATF 5K courses at other local Fleet Feet stores across the country. While Fleet Feet Sarasota will not have a certified course for 2017, local runners can still compare their times with the goal of having a local certified 5K course for the 2018 Big Run Day.

Registration and information:

Online is open at www.fleetfeetsarasota.com. First 150 registrants are guaranteed a complimentary technical shirt; additional shirts may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
