There's plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween around Sarasota, Bradenton and Lakeland.

SARASOTA, FL — Whether you plan to dress up like a unicorn, little devil or even a world leader with a penchant for golf, there's no shortage of ways to celebrate Halloween around Sarasota, Bradenton and Lakland.
Patch consulted Eventbrite and also heard directly from local organizations to put together the following roundup of Halloween happenings around the area:
Halloween Candle Making Class

Light up the night at the Folk School in the Florida Maritime Museum with JoAnn Mancuso as she conducts a Halloween candle-making class. Students will learn basic candle skills such as layering, adding fragrance and color. Students will also learn about the different types of wax that is used to make candles. Each student will take home three different candles — a Halloween votive candle, a candle in a Halloween mug and a candy corn candle. The class is open to the public and is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Florida Maritime Museum. This class is $38. Preregistration is required. Families who dine-in at Applebee’s in costume on Halloween will receive up to two free kids’ meals with each adult entrée purchase. Children ages 12 and under can choose any entrée on the Applebee’s Kids’ Menu, accompanied by their choice of a side dish, and juice, milk or chocolate milk. Kids can choose from dishes like Chicken Quesadilla, Mac + Cheese and more. Applebee’s Kids’ Menu offers 21 menu items and more than 200 combinations of entrées, sides and beverages. Wear a costume and get in free on Wednesday, Oct. 30 when the fun starts at 7 p.m. inside the Empire Ballroom Studios, Sarasota. There will be games, dance, food and fun.
Wed, Oct 30, 12:30 p.m. This free event takes place at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Auditorium.Open to moms with babies 12 months and younger. Older siblings are welcome and costumes are encouraged.
Hitch a ride on the Chevy-built Transformer party bus on Oct. 31 starting at 5:30 p.m. Visit four Sarasota locations: Marina Jacks Daiquiri Deck in South Siesta Key, Gulf Gate Village and the Weston Hotel's rooftop bar on the 12th floor. Tickets cost $22.85 including fees.
SRQ-Beats Halloween Downtown Block Party at The Overton & Sage
SRQ-Beats presents the first annual Halloween Downtown Block Party from 7 p.m. to 11 p..m. Experience DJs from the Miami house techno scene. The Overton is located at 1420 Boulevard of the Arts, Sarasota. Tickets cost $50 for two parties including shuttle service or $30 for one party. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Halloween Bash Costume Contest
This event features a costume contest, live music and prizes. The bash will be held at 9 p.m. Oct. 31 and Friday Nov. 1. at 1330 E Memorial Blvd. in Lakeland.
Come join Snow White and Blown Beautiful Dry Bar for some follicle fun. Every guest gets some fabulous sparkle added to their hair and a princess tiara provided by Blown Beautiful. The cost is $30 per princess (ages 2 and up) with $15 due at booking and the remaining $15 due when you check in. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
