High School Team In Bradenton Placed On Probation After Fight

The team was playing Wauchula Hardee High School on Oct. 20 when tempers flared after the game.

BRADENTON - A postgame fight has landed the Southeast (Bradenton) High School football team on probation, along with a fine of $1,650. The team was playing Wauchula Hardee High School on Oct. 20 when tempers flared after the game.

The team recently was forced to forfeit six games because of the use of an academically ineligible player, the Bradenton Herald reported. The forfeits eliminated Southeast from playoff contention heading into Friday night’s regular season finale against Harmony.

The Florida High School Athletic Association’s decision can be appealed by the schools. Southeast received five counts of unsportsmanlike conduct suspensions at $250 apiece and four counts of any unsportsmanlike conduct suspensions at $100 apiece. Six Southeast football players were suspended for four weeks by the Manatee district, the Herald reported.
