Humane Society of Sarasota County awarded $50,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) received a $50,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to support lifesaving care for 2,116 animals this year. Funding is provided by the Helen C. Schwieder Fund of the Community Foundation.

“It takes tremendous resources to care for the nearly 200 animals in our facility at any given time. This $50,000 grant will be transformed into food, medicine, microchips, vaccines, litter, toys, cleaning products, and foster supplies—all essential components of animal care,” says Anna Gonce, HSSC Executive Director. “The impact of the funding is immediate and can be seen in every shelter animal, many of whom have never had a warm bed, a full belly, and a healthy body before coming to HSSC. It’s our job to take care of them and find them loving, permanent homes, and we truly appreciate the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s assistance.”
