Hurricane Irma: Sarasota Police Collecting Relief Supplies

The Sarasota Police Department is partnering with locals to take truckloads of supplies to the keys.

SARASOTA, FL – Since 6 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, people have been bringing hurricane relief supplies to the Sarasota Police Department to help recovery efforts in the Florida Keys after Hurricane Irma ran through the islands.

The police department, in partnership with Suntex Marinas/Marina Jack, Voigt Borthers Construction, Terry’s Plumbing and Larry and Linda Twill, will continue to accept donations daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. until the three trailers being used are full.

Hurricane Irma made landfall on Sunday, Sept. 10 in Cudjoe Key as a Category 4 hurricane. Much of the lower keys have been devastated by the storm, leaving residents and law enforcement personnel without essential resources needed for restoration.
