SARASOTA, FL — Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams new location in the University Town Center area is the brands first ice cream shop in the Sarasota area, according to a news release.

The 1,398-square-foot shop is located at 190 N. Cattlemen Road in Sarasota and was designed in partnership with Gensler. Inside the shop, customers will find a gallery wall, a storefront window waffle station, a massive chalkboard wall for kids and various types of seating, the news release said.

The team at the UTC shop has been gearing up to bring Jeni’s one-of-a-kind ice cream flavors to the neighborhood — signature classics like Gooey Butter Cake, dairy-free flavors like Dark Chocolate Truffle and the brand-new Buttercream Birthday Cake.

“We couldn't be more excited to be opening our first scoop shop in Sarasota,” Jeni Britton Bauer, founder, said. “And I love the design of this shop so much. We don’t always have so much room to work with, but we took full advantage and loaded the shop with as much color and seating for gathering (when we can all do so again safely) as possible. We’re thrilled to be part of the community at University Town Center.”

As a certified B corporation, Jeni’s has long been known for its social, environmental and business leadership, and in 2019 was recognized as a Best For The World honoree, scoring in the top 10 percent of all B corporations worldwide for community impact, the news release said. Jeni’s is known for its partnerships with the growers, makers and producers who supply them with ingredients — they call it the Fellowship Model — from family-run dairies to farmers who grow fields of berries just for them.

Founded in Columbus, Ohio in 2002 by Britton Bauer, a James Beard Award-winning ice cream maker Britton Bauer, today, Jeni’s is a certified B corporation known for its social, environmental, and business leadership with about 50 scoop shops throughout the country, an online shop at jenis.com and distribution in top grocery stores across the country.
