Man Arrested For Series Of Burglaries
Police say the suspect admitted he stolen several items from homes and pawned them to fund his drug addiction.
A 24-year-old man suspected of burglarizing his neighbors' homes admitted to Sarasota Police that he stole to fund his drug addiction, according to police.
Francisco R. Barron was arrested Wednesday at his home, 1766 9th St., on eight criminal charges for three burglaries on 9th Street, according to police. The charges are three counts of burglary, three counts of dealing in stolen property, and two counts of fraudulent information on a pawn slip, according to police. He was being held at Sarasota County Jail on $71,000 bond, police said.
The first of the three burglaries occurred Oct. 22, 2012, when the suspect forced open the rear door and then stole two laptop computers, two flat screen TVs, a Playstation, and $50, according to police. Police were in contact with Barron during that burglary investigation when he told the officer that two black men entered the yard, but the officer included in the report that Baron is addicted to drugs and is believed to steal items to fund the addiction, according to police.

The second burglary happened Nov. 16, 2012, when a pair of Oakley sunglasses, cash and change was taken from the home, according to police.
The third burglary happened three days later, when a Vizio flat screen TV was stolen, according to police.

The victim told police they believed Barron had broken in and that they believe that Barron had tried to sell some stolen items to them in the past, according to police.
Detective Llovio conducted an investigation and located and recovered items stolen during the three burglaries including the 51-inch Samsung TV, two laptops and the Playstation from the Oct. 22 burglary. The items were pawned by an accomplice of Barron, Theresa Guerraro-Gutierrez, according to police.
Guerraro-Gutierrez, 27, faces two counts of dealing in stolen property and two counts of providing false information on a pawn slip, according to her inmate charge report. She is being held at Sarasota County Jail on $5,000 bond.
The detective also recovered from pawn shops Oakley sunglasses from the Nov. 16 burglary and the Vizio TV from the Nov. 19 burglary, according to police. Both items were pawned by Francisco Barron, according to police.
