Pedestrian Critically Injured While Crossing North Trail

A 55-year-old woman was air-lifted to Blake Medical Center on Thursday night afte she was struck by a car on N. Tamiami Trail near 18th Street.

Updated, 5:22 p.m.:

Sarasota Police investigators have identified the injured pedestrian as Dorothy M. McMahon, 55, of Sarasota. She is still in critical condition at Blake Medical Center, officials said Friday.

A 55-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a car Thursday night on North Tamiami Trail near 18th Street.

The woman was attempt to cross the road at 8 p.m. heading west, but was struck by a southbound car, according to Sarasota Police Department.

The victim was flown by helicopter to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton where she is listed as being in critical condition, according to police.

Southbound Tamiami Trail was closed for two hours during the investigation Thursday, according to police.

The driver does not faces any charges, and the drive was not injured, according to police.
