The Pfizer vaccine is the only brand approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use by 16- and 17-year-olds, receiving that approval in March. Gov. Ron DeSantis opened Pfizer vaccine eligibility in Florida to 16- and 17-year-olds starting April 5.
Sarasota County hasn’t received any Pfizer doses until now, though, so this is the first clinic the county is offering this age range.
The FDA is evaluating Pfizer’s request for approval to give the vaccine to children 12 to 15, CNN reported.
