Pfizer Vaccine Clinic Planned For Those 16 And Older Saturday
The Department of Health in Sarasota County will host a walk-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic for anyone 16 and older Saturday.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A walk-up COVID-19 clinic has been scheduled for anyone 16 and older Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Sarasota Square Mall, 8201 S Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, the Steve Huard, public information officer with the Department of Health in Sarasota County, said in a news release.
About 500 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be available to 16- and 17-year-olds at this event. This two-dose vaccine offers “a 91 percent protection rate against the coronavirus,” Huard said.
The Pfizer vaccine is the only brand approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use by 16- and 17-year-olds, receiving that approval in March. Gov. Ron DeSantis opened Pfizer vaccine eligibility in Florida to 16- and 17-year-olds starting April 5.
